Why I'm donating 5% revenue to horses
Share
Alfie (the grey pony, pictured) was a Carneddau pony who was greatly cared for at Horse Sense Wirral during my time volunteering. Rescued in the annual farmer's round-up due to having medical issues in the North Wales mountains, he quickly became part of the herd at Horse Sense Wirral.
He really helped me during the pandemic as I'd left London and like many of us I was struggling to find a purpose in a new way of life, but I knew getting back to being around horses (as I had been as a child) was the answer.
Carneddau ponies that are rescued and rehomed have a special quality of mischief, openness and trust of humans that becomes such a joy to be around.
He really helped give me a sense of what it means to be wild with a sense of self, whilst having a kind heart, playfulness and leadership.
Sadly Alfie passed away after he was rehomed unexpectedly, something which struck me deep. But I remember his spirit and the work of the charity to care for him, and it is in his memory that I came up with 5% for horses.
