Slow living, crafted to last
Solhäst (sool-hehst) noun, adjective
Derived from the Swedish for ‘sun horse’. A way of life embracing the magical hours of sunrise to sunset, channeling the freedom and rhythms of the horse.
‘She is living the Solhäst life’
Solhäst is a lifestyle equestrian brand inspired by Scandi slow-living that donates 5% revenue to horses.
The brand came into being after I noticed my local horse charity, Horse Sense Wirral, was struggling to pay the bills.
Charity fundraising has been at an all time low since the pandemic - what if we could generate extra funds through the clothes we choose?
The first hero product, the equestrian jumpsuit, is designed and made in the UK with premium UK and EU sourced materials. This 4-way stretch tailored jumpsuit is sensory friendly, improves riding form and is a go-to spring summer layer for balmy days.
Once launched, my 2025 charities of choice are Redwings and Horse Sense Wirral.
The brand's ethos is simple - slow down and consciously choose garments that perform multiple roles in your wardrobe without dissociating from huge issues presented by the fast fashion industry.
Solhäst does not use the word 'sustainable' as no fashion brand can ever claim to be truly sustainable.
We are not perfect.
Conversations with manufacturers are still ongoing to ensure full circularity of UK sourced materials, however we have minimised carbon footprint by ensuring UK and EU production, alongside good working conditions for creatives in the supply chain.
The future vision is to incorporate alternatives where possible to stretch fabrics, with more technical innovation and support for UK businesses that work hard to produce high quality materials.
Your garments are made to last, and should you wish to return it at end of life, material will also be also repurposed into pet bedding.
If you have any questions on the production process please contact me on hello@solhast.com.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
